What Was Jesus Last Command
Jesus was a major figure in the religion of Christianity. As the son of God, he was believed to have a powerful role in salvation and eternal life.
Jesus also had a very important message: love. More specifically, Jesus preached about the kind of love that God has for us, and how we should love each other.
This is described in what is known as the Great Commandment. In the New Testament, Jesus gives his followers one last command before he ascends to heaven. It is called The Great Commandment because it is the greatest commandment given by Jesus.
It is summarized in this one sentence: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength” (Mark 12:30 NIV). This article will discuss what this commandment means, how to apply it to our daily lives, and how we can strive to obey it.
In the same way, Jesus said that his disciples would be known by their fruit. By fruit, Jesus didn’t just mean going to church every week or reading the Bible every night.
He meant that his followers would grow in their love for God and others, and that they would grow in their understanding of God and his word.
In John 15:2–8, Jesus compares himself to a vine and his disciples to vines that grow off of him. Only grapes that grow on the vine belong to the vine—and only believers who grow in Christ belong to him.
We can’t make ourselves more spiritual or more apart of Christ, but we can hinder our growth if we don’t pay attention to what he says. He is the Vine, after all! He knows what we need.
Stay in God
Jesus said his followers should stay in God, and that God would give them the same authority he has.
“I have come that they may have life, and may have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. A good man leaves and finds a place for [his] life, and brings [his] life that [he] may have life everlasting.” (John 10:10-12)
This means you should believe in him, know him personally, listen to him, obey him, and follow his commands. He says this is the only way to find true happiness and peace.
Jesus said you should love God with all of your heart, mind, strength, and soul. If you do this, then God will make all the things he says true in your life. For example, he will make you truly happy and peaceful.
Love God above all else
Jesus said that the greatest commandment was to love God with all your heart, mind, and strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself. In other words, you should love everything about God and love everyone as much as you love yourself.
Many people today focus on one of these commands rather than both. Some people worship things other than God or don’t believe in God at all, but still regard him or her as a neighbor. Others may love everyone, but don’t really feel any kind of connection to God.
However, in the Bible, these two commands are referred to as one command: To love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might and with all your strength and to love your neighbor as yourself (Deuteronomy 6:5).
It is impossible to truly love someone if you do not also love God. And vice versa—if you truly love God, then you will also love his children (read: humans) (see Matthew 5:43–48).
Love your neighbor as yourself
Jesus said that as you love yourself, you should love your neighbor. You should love your neighbor as much as you love yourself, which is to say, a lot!
How do you love yourself? You take care of yourself, you don’t abuse yourself or others, and you put up with things that are hard for you.
If you can’t make yourself happy, then how can you make someone else happy? If you can’t take care of yourself, then how can you take care of someone else? If things that are hard for you upset or hurt you, then how will you be able to do the same to someone else?
Jesus said that the second greatest command was to “love your fellow man”. To love your neighbor as yourself is the greatest command. In other words, if you cannot love yourself then it will be hard to love your neighbor. The two go hand in hand.
Help those in need
Jesus gave us a great command to help those in need. He said that we should love our enemies and to always be mindful of the poor, the oppressed, and the marginalized.
He also said that we should work hard and give away what we don’t need so that others can have what they need.
Jesus was very clear about this command but many people don’t understand what “help those in need” means. It doesn’t mean simply handing out cash or meals to people who are struggling. It means working with people to solve the problems that are causing their need.It
means helping people get education, job training, and opportunities for stable income. It means helping families find affordable housing and access to healthcare. It means investing in people so they can invest in themselves.
Follow the Holy Spirit
Jesus made it very clear that he was going to leave the Holy Spirit to help and guide his followers. In fact, he called the Holy Spirit “the Comforter.”
What a wonderful reminder that Jesus said we would have the Holy Spirit with us! How comforting is that?
The Christian religion teaches that the Holy Spirit is not just an absence of evil or a divine nature, but a personal being, like God or Jesus. The third person of the Trinity is what we call “the Comforter.”
The role of the Holy Spirit in our lives as Christians is to lead us into truth and to comfort us when we go through difficult times. This includes giving us insights and directions on how to live our lives in a way that pleases God.
The Holy Spirit also gives us gifts, such as speaking languages and healing, which help spread the word of God.
Tell others about Jesus
Jesus’s final command was for his followers to go into the world and tell others about him. He didn’t specify who should do the telling, or how it should be done, but he insisted that it be done.
Jesus said this in several ways. In John 14:26, he said, “Those who have seen me have seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Go away!’ to those you don’t know? If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
In John 17:18, he says, “I pray also for those who will believe in me through their word [of apostles]. May they all be one [united in faith], just as you [Father] are in union with me and I am in union with you [Father]. May they also be in union with one another [with believers throughout the world]; just as we are all one [united]in … faith.
Conversion for the unrepentant soul
Jesus gave us one final command before he left. He said to go and make disciples of all nations. This is known as the Great Commission.
Jesus commanded us to go and teach people about him, his teachings, and how to be saved through faith in him. He also commands us to go and teach his word- the Bible!
By teaching the word of God, you are teaching about Jesus because the Bible is almost entirely about him. By teaching his teachings, you are teaching about Jesus because he is the one who taught them.
He commands us to go to every nation, not just geographic regions. As believers in Christ, we are called to spread his teachings to people of all races, cultures, and ethnicities. This includes going into their communities and meeting with them on their turf to share the good news of Jesus. It also includes going into unfamiliar places such as refugee camps or other impoverished areas to share the good news of Jesus.
